Project Activities Of New Life Fellowship Association Kolkata |
During the year, New Life Fellowship Association successfully expanded and strengthened its educational, community development, and humanitarian activities across several states in India.
Education and Training
We successfully opened several new centers dedicated to teaching and training. Our informal schools, known as Shishu Pathshalas, continue to thrive, providing education and support to children from underprivileged communities. In every state where we work, we have established adult literacy centers, where many adults regularly attend classes to learn to read and write. We are encouraged to see that many children who graduated from our informal schools have progressed into formal education and are doing well in their studies.
At our schools, we provide wholesome snacks to the children. We have also developed special vitamin-enriched nutritious food and biscuits to support their health and development. Books and notebooks are provided to children from poor families so that financial difficulties do not prevent them from continuing their education.
We encourage our teachers to develop strong relationships with their students’ families and to hold regular parent-teacher meetings. Along with academic instruction, children receive lessons in basic hygiene, music, songs, and drama, helping them develop confidence, creativity, and healthy habits.
Volunteer Training and Human Resource Development
Throughout the year, we conducted several seminars and training programs for volunteers in human resource development. These sessions focused on personal development, leadership, communication, and practical skills that enable volunteers to serve more effectively and promote health education among marginalized communities.
Community Outreach and Humanitarian Assistance
We have expanded our outreach to assist people living in difficult circumstances, including the needy and beggar community in six states. At present, we have a coordinator in each state, supported by numerous social workers who are actively serving in different regions across India. Their dedication enables us to reach vulnerable and marginalized communities with practical assistance and compassionate care. Every morning, we provide meals to underprivileged people and members of the beggar community in Kolkata, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Ranchi, and Bhubaneswar.
Every year, we also distribute thousands of tarpaulins and blankets to people in need. We provide wheelchairs to individuals with disabilities, helping them to live with greater dignity, mobility, and independence.
Bartimaeus Project – Tailoring Training
As part of the Bartimaeus Project, we purchased six sewing machines with stands and motors for New Delhi and three sewing machines for Chandigarh.
The Bartimaeus Project has also launched a new initiative to provide tailoring training for women and young girls from underprivileged and marginalized communities, including those who are homeless.
The purpose of this program is to empower participants with practical vocational skills that can help them establish a livelihood, earn an income, become more self-reliant, and support their families. We believe that skill development can create opportunities for lasting change and restore dignity and hope to those who are struggling.
Acknowledgement
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our members, volunteers, coordinators, social workers, and donors for their unwavering support, commitment, prayers, and generous contributions. Their partnership has made it possible for us to continue and expand these educational, vocational, humanitarian, and community development activities.
We are grateful for all that has been accomplished and look forward to continuing this work in the coming year. We sincerely request your continued support, cooperation, prayers, and partnership as we seek to reach more children, families, and marginalized communities across India.
